Viking Johnson at The London Museum of Water and Steam

We're proud to share a recent collaboration with the London Museum of Water and Steam, where history and innovation converge.
At the heart of this historic site, a unique challenge was encountered during the restoration of a Boulton & Watt waterworks engine from 1820. A leak was discovered in a disused one-inch rusty pipe buried beneath stone floor slabs. This pipe is connected to a larger three-inch cast iron pipe within the engine’s condenser tank, situated in a hard-to-reach area, and provides water to the entire museum site.
The connection between these pipes was compromised, exacerbated by damage from a poorly drilled hole dating back to Victorian times. With the smaller pipe's removal resulting in additional cracks.
The Museum’s team approached Viking Johnson to help and we were more than happy to do so. We donated an EasiTap repair clamp, enabling the affected area to be sealed off, safeguarding water supplies without the need for extensive pipework repairs or replacements. Since installation, not a single drop has leaked!
We're grateful for the opportunity to support the preservation of this iconic waterworks site and look forward to more collaborations in the future.
