Viking Johnson Helps WaterAid (And Others)
Posted on 01st May 2007
WaterAid is one of the organisations benefiting from an £11,000 charitable donation made by pipe joint and repair specialist Viking Johnson.
Pictured at the charity presentation event are Peter Wilson (managing director, Crane Ltd), Julie Brett (Crane Fund, Crane Ltd), Fiona Blake (WaterAid) and Tim Gardiner (Viking Johnson).
Other charities benefiting from the Viking Johnson cash were the Willow Foundation, the Hatfield-based national charity for seriously ill young adults; the International Myeloma Foundation, the only organisation in the UK dealing specifically with bone marrow cancer; Jeans for Genes, the fund-raiser for research into childhood genetic disorders; and the Babes Big Appeal for children's hospices.
Individuals at the company nominated charities for the fund, some of them drawing on their own personal experience.
Viking Johnson is part of the Crane Corporation, a US based company that was set up 150 years ago by Mr Richard Teller Crane. To this day remains true to the principles of its founder in how it supports its employees and the communities in which its companies operate throughout the world.
The Crane Fund was set up by members of Mr Richard Teller Crane's family in 1914, honouring his wish to support employees after they are no longer able to work, either through ill health or early retirement. There are three Funds which make up the Crane Fund. It is from the Widows & Children Fund, which encompasses awards to educational institutions and charitable organisations, that the donations have been given by the Fund's Trustees.
